F1 Driver Lewis Hamilton in Hungry ranks second with Max Verstappen after accident

Red Bull won a race against time to recover Max Bullstone car after a Dutch driver crashed his way to the Hungarian Grand Prix starting grid on Sunday.Verstappen fell 12 slippery, collided with a tire obstruction and broke the front wing.

“I hit the wall,” Verstappen, who had qualified seventh for the third round of the Formula One season, said over the team radio.

Verstappen nursed the car to the grid where mechanics swarmed around it, some running back to the garage for a new wing while others worked on the front left suspension as the clock ticked down to the start.

“Incredible work guys, that’s unbelievable. Thanks very much,” said the 22-year-old after the work was completed in time.

Verstappen debut on pole position at Hungering last year, but he and teammate Alex Albon are wrestling with the handling of the car this weekend.

The Hungarian GP saw Mercedes Lewis Hamilton claiming the chequered flag. Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas finished a close third behind Max Verstappen, who withstood Bottas pace to finish second.

Max Verstappen deservedly won Driver's Day after finishing on the podium.

Both Red Bulls of Max and Alex Albon have had issues with pace and steer throughout the weekend, and looks nervy heading into the race. Albon started 13th on the grid, after a horrific second qualifying session on Saturday.

Max Verstappen was unhappy with his lack of speed, and could only manage to qualify the P7 on the starting grid. To make things worse, he crashed into the sides as he headed towards the starting grid for the formation lap.

The Red Bull mechanics did a fabulous job to bring the car back to order. As Max headed to the starting grid, he thanked the engineers for their stupendous recovery work, on radio.

The race was well started by Max Verstappen, who took five track positions to lag behind race leader Lewis Hamilton. They secured their place in the final few laps after the frantic pit was closed by many teams. All teams had to switch their wet / differential tires to hard or medium ones, as the track began to dry.

With 11 laps remaining, Bottas was about 11 seconds behind the Max, but stopped fast in his fresh tire. Bottas was finishing second on Max and was set to receive second place.

But Max Verstappen performed brilliantly and finished second in a very worthy second place. He thanked his team over the radio after crossing the finishing line, calling them great.Fans also thought of Max's performance as he won the Driver of the Day online poll, ahead of Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.
