Latest football news and soccer after lockdown

Football's comeback has been welcomed with open arms by fans across the country, having been starved of excitement during the lockdown. But for certain players the enforced break appears to have done them the world of good. These are the stars to have hit the most impressive form at each club in the Premier League since we got back underway in Project Restart...

The left-back arrived last summer for £25 million - a hefty fee for Arsenal, who have a delicate balance to strike at present when it comes to finances. What's more, the Scotsman arrives amid a recovery from an operation on a hernia and dislocated his shoulder in December, which ruled him out for three months.

The lockdown therefore meant that Terni could regain his fitness and regain some of the season and he was making up for lost time. Mikel Arteta's reconstruction is very much in its early stages, but one thing is for sure: Tierney is in this form, while the left-back is tickled.

'Now, he is the star of this Arsenal defence,' Ashley Cole said after Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Leicester. 'He has top qualities, he can play into the striker, join attacks well, he has the quality of pass and he can defend in one-v-one defence.'

No one has lit Villa Park since the restart. Prior to a 2–0 win over Crystal Palace last week, Villa had drawn two and lost four matches. Another draw took place at Everton on Thursday. But Trezeguet stepped in and took control of Roy Hodgson's match against the men on Sunday and his double strike handed Villa their first league win since 21 January. It may yet prove to be important.

Only time will tell if it is too little, too late.

His four-goal performance against Norwich required West Ham to battle to avoid the drop. They now have three points between themselves and 18th-placed Bournemouth, and their last three matches against Watford (17th) and Aston Villa (19th).

His luck is in his own hands and with Antonio again as he is again poking against rival rivals Watford, the Hammers have every reason for optimism.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men are such an impressive outfit and still have expectations, albeit slim ones, sneaking into the top four.

There are many players who have stood out since the restart - Raul Jimenez scored three goals in three key wins, for example.

But the electrifying Adama Traore has been the most dominant - he has completed 30 dribbles since the restart, the second highest in the league.
