Leeds United FC Leeds transfer bid confirmed for £ 27m which opens negotiations with Man UTD

Leeds have submitted a proposal for attacking midfielder Jonathan David. That's according to Gent chairman Ivan De Witte, who confirmed an offer from Marcelo Bielsa's newly-promoted side. Athletic journalist Peter Rutzler has posted a picture on Twitter of Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa in a Premier League game between Everton and Bournemouth this afternoon.

The versatile midfielder, who can also serve as a shadow striker or in a center-forward position, arrived in Belgium in 2018 from Ottawa. And his feats have seen him pair up with a number of giants including Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Belgian publication HLN has recently claimed that both the Gunners and United held 'exploratory talks' with Gent officials.

But, according to Gent chairman Ivan De Witte, Leeds are now in the running and have already bettered Lille's approach.

De Witte has been discussing the forward's situation and admitted that he'd already rejected a bid of £23million including bonuses from Ligue 1 side Lille.

The club is offering close to £ 27m for its 20-year-old talent.

"I have only expressed my displeasure that contacts have been made with Lily behind our backs," de Vitté told Belgian publication De Dondag.

"There were no contacts last week, but that they have made a transfer impossible because of that is a bridge too far.

"The contacts were stopped this week, but other clubs are still interested. With much better proposals even. Including Leeds."

Leeds head coach Bielsa - who has guided the Whites to promote the top flight of English football - is currently in the match.

Player opening?

One wonders why Bielsa is in this particular Premier League game. Perhaps Leeds head coach has gone to Goodison Park to scout Everton and Bournemouth players.

Or maybe Argentina just wants to take in a good game of Premier League football.
Everton are currently taking on Bournemouth at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Back between the big boys

Leeds will play in the Premier League next season for the first time since 2004 and this is a great opportunity for the club.

The Whites are one of the biggest clubs in England, and the Elland Road faithful will look forward to a team playing against the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea next season.
