Air India Express plane crash Dubai-Kozhikode Flight Splits In Two In Kerala 14 dead, 123 injured and 15 seriously

14 dead, 123 injured and 15 seriously hurt in Kozhikode plane crash incident at Karipur Airport, reports ANI quoting Malappuram SP

The Air India Express aircraft flew on the runway with 184 people from Dubai while landing at Kozhikode in Kerala on Friday. The rescue operation is on. The first images from the site revealed that the aircraft had completely broken down with debris on and off the runway.

The incident took place at around 7:40 pm amid heavy rainfall in the area.

Rescue operations are under way, with emergency services at the scene.

At least two people, including the pilot, have died, the news has been told.

Several passengers are injured, a spokesman for the airline said.

The airline said there were 184 passengers - including 10 children and seven crew members, of which two were pilots - on board flight IX-1344 when it crashed at Calicut, also known as Kozhikode.

PM Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan about the Karipur plane crash over the phone. The CM has informed the PM that a team of Kozhikode and Malappuram district collectors and officials including IG Ashok Yadav have been taken to the airport and are participating in the rescue operation: Kerala CMO
