Neighborhood in San Diego, California Man fatally stabbed in Pacific Beach bathroom, police say
A man was fatally stabbed in a Pacific Beach bathroom on Sunday, according to San Diego Police.
A person who was reportedly stabbed in Pacific Beach has died prompting a homicide investigation by San Diego Police Sunday night.
The stabbing was reported at around 7:35 p.m. at a men's bathroom at the beach. Police are asking people to avoid Ocean Avenue and Grand Avenue as the investigation continues.
in the area of Ocean Blvd. and Grand Ave. as an assault with a deadly weapon with an injured man.
Police have identified the victim as a man, 35, he was stabbed in the upper torso. Police have arrested a possible suspect.
It is not known if the victim knew the attacker.
Firefighters and lifeguards were the first arrive to find a 35-year-old man bleeding from the upper torso in a men's bathroom, according to SDPD Lt. Andra Brown. First aid was given within minutes and the man was taken to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.
The suspect reportedly rode away on a bicycle but was detained about a quarter-mile away from the scene. He's described as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s, said Brown.
Police are not aware of any relationship between the victim and the suspect. Brown added that there is no current threat to the public.
Officers asked that the public avoid the area of Ocean Blvd. & Grand Ave. as they investigated. Police are looking into whether cameras at nearby businesses have any video of the events surrounding the stabbing. Witnesses were also being interviewed.
SDPD Homicide Unit is at the scene conducting an investigation.
