Mayanti Langer: Mayanti Langer, Stuart Binny blessed with baby boy, anchor confirms news on social media

Mayawati Langer, one of the most prominent faces in Indian sports that has aired for many years, will not be part of the broadcast panel for the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Mayanti, who has covered the Indian Cricket League (ICL) ICC Cricket World Cup and also the IPL for several seasons, was missing from the list of presenters and women broadcasters who will be part of the IPL 2020. However, the main reason for his absence is finally resolved.

Mayanti Langer, one of India's leading anchors and wife of Indian cricketer Stuart Binny, will be missing the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as the couple has been blessed with a baby boy. While the official broadcaster confirmed her unavailability for the 13th edition, Mayanti took to social media to confirm why fans won’t get to see her host the upcoming edition being held in the UAE.

The spots present, on Friday (September 18), took to Twitter and revealed that she recently gave birth to a baby boy just six weeks ago and is thus taking her time away from her broadcasting duties. Mayanti Langer shared an adorable picture with of her baby and her husband Stuart Binny.

"So I’m going to love watching the IPL @StarSportsIndia all the best to the team  @jatinsapru @suhailchandhok @cricketaakash @SanjanaGanesan @ProfDeano @scottbstyris @BrettLee_58 @Sanjog_G and the full gang!!" she wrote on Twitter.

“So quite a few of you have reached out, and many are speculating. For the past five years, my family at Star Sports has given me the incredible privilege of fronting their most high profile events. In fact they supported me when I needed them the most. When I was pregnant with my son. They made several adjustments to ensure that I was comfortable hosting till I was 20 weeks/5 months pregnant and would have continued doing so had IPL 2020 gone on as scheduled. Stuart and I were blessed by the birth of our baby boy almost six weeks ago. Life has changed for the better,” Mayanti wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the list of commentators for IPL 2020 was announced with plenty of big names coming back on air. Harsha Bhogle, Sunil Gavaskar and Ian Bishop will be on commentary duties while the likes of Brett Lee, Dean Jones, Brian Lara, Graeme Swann and Scott Styris will feature in the Dugout show.

However, there will be one big name missing in IPL 2020 and that is Sanjay Manjrekar. Apart from the names mentioned above, Mark Nicholas, JP Duminy, Lisa Sthalekar and Anjum Chopra will also be part of the English team.

Earlier, responding to a fan’s query, Star Sports confirmed that Mayanti won’t be a part of the tournament while also announcing the presenters who will be in action during the 13th edition of the T20 league.

“Hi! Mayanti Langer won't be a part of #Dream11IPL 2020,” Star Sports responded to a fan.

“Hi! Bhavna Balakrishnan (Tamil), Reena Dsouza, Madhu Mailankody (Kannada), Neha Matcha (Telugu), Anjum Chopra, Lisa Sthalekar, Neroli Meadows (English) and Sanjana Ganesan will be the female commentators and presenters during #Dream11IPL 2020,” the official broadcaster wrote.

Manjrekar had written to the BCCI after he was removed from the commentary panel, offering to apologize. The former India batsman revealed that he was removed from the panel because some player had a problem with him. In a mail to the BCCI, he also mentioned that if reinstated in the commentary panel, he would abide by the rules.

Mumbai Indians will be taking on Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the IPL 2020 on September 19.
