After a week of previews and teaser clips — including one featuring Tiger King's Carole Baskin — Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande released "Stuck With U," a charity single that will see proceeds going to the children of first responders and offering up a bop for anyone needing a new tune for self-quarantine. Keep a sharp eye out for appearances from big names like Gwyneth Paltrow, Hailey Baldwin, some Kardashian-Jenners, Ayesha and Steph Curry, and a few more of the duo's famous pals.
The pop superstars new single is a salute to first responders on the first lines of the fight against the coronavirus. They plan funnel proceeds to the First Responders Children's Foundation. The song is available for digital download on several sites including Apple Music and Spotify.
"Here is the announcement. Very excited because we have finally done it. I'm releasing a new song #StuckwithU with my friend @ArianaGrande next Friday on May 8th," Bieber wrote. "Working with our family at @sb_projects and universal music group proceeds from the sales and streams of #StuckwithU will fund grants and scholarships for children of first responders who have been impacted by COVID-19 in partnership with the First Responders Children's Foundation @1strcf."
The music video posted to YouTube late Thursday shows footage of everyday Americans living in lockdown as the nation struggles to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The song touches on familiar topics, as we adjust to the new norm: Got all this time on my hands. // Maybe cancel our plans // I can stay here for a lifetime // so close the door and Throw out the key // This no one else can fight, its just you and me. And theres nothing, thats nothing. // I can // Im stuck with you.
Throughout the week for tonight release, Bieber and Grande sought help from their followers. He asked for a clip of people having fun during quarantine, saying the song was a prom song for someone who was missing. The preview presented Baskin, though TMZ reported that his clip did not make the final cut, and people say that Grande did not allow Baskin to appear.
The First Responders Children's Foundation says the funds raised will be used for grants and scholarships for children of paramedics, firefighters, police officers and health workers. Talent management company SB Projects helped bring Bieber and Grande together to record "Stuck With You". Grande said in a statement that the two had a "very good time" collaborating with each other.
Grande said, We are so excited about this for so many reasons. We hope we make a difference and we hope it will make you excited and make you feel happy and that you will love it as much as we do .
Other SB Projects artists will release their own singles in the coming weeks, benefiting a variety of non-profit organizations
"More than ever, we are seeing the selfless, tireless and amazing work that doctors, nurses and healthcare providers give to the world every day," Bieber said in a statement. Much needed support for them and their families. "
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, there were more than 1.2 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US on Thursday, with more than 75,000 deaths.
