A Patriot League cancels all fall sports

The Patriot League has joined the Ivy League to cancel the falling game including football due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Division I conference states that it has still not been determined whether the Winter and Spring Sports Competition will be held and that it will consider the fall game in the second semester. The Ivy League made a similar announcement last week. The Patriot League is the first conference in the Football Championship subdivision to compete in the Football Bowl subdivision's playoff to suspend its season.

The league became the second to cancel a falling game after the Ivy League did so last week. Like the Ivy League, the Patriot League will attempt to play football in the spring. The announcement of the Patriot League, unlike the US, does not make an impact about the Winter Games.

The Army and Navy compete in the Patriot League in many sports, including basketball, but not football. The Patriot League said the military and navy were exempted from canceling the falling games, including women's football and volleyball.

The conference stated that athletes would be allowed to practice and train with coaches and team facilities "provided health and safety conditions support such activities."

Swiss football club Zurich says it will field an under-21 team to try to save the season from being canceled as the first team is isolated at home.

The game of Zurich was postponed on Saturday as several players and staff tested positive for coronavirus. The club says it will play against third-placed Basel on Tuesday by selecting young players from its backup roster.

Zurich is also to play the title contenders Young Boys and St.Gallen and say it wanted to avoid the league being canceled.10 teams are already playing on mid week and weekends. Complete a UEFA deadline to finish Season 2 and for European competition entries. It is not clear when Zurich can play a rescheduled game against Sion.

Zurich are in sixth place but are in contention to enter the Europa League by finished fourth.

Like the Ivy League, the Patriot League is expected to try to play spring football.

"The plan is to move towards spring," a league source said.

The decision affects the football program of many BCS-level programs.

Syracuse was slated to host Action 19 on the Career Dome, while Holy Cross was scheduled to visit Boston College on October 31.

After the quote made its rounds online, Sankey took to Twitter and responded.

"Yep...that’s exactly what I said...and have been saying," Sankey tweeted. "I want to provide the opportunity for college athletics to be part of the fall, but we need to all consider our behavior to make possible what right now appears very difficult. 'The direct reality is not good.'"
