A desperate search is underway in the New South Wales Macarthur Region after a teenaged boy failed to resurface after jumping into a watering hole.
Emergency services were called to Mermaid Pools in Tahmoor about 1.40pm on Thursday.

About 1.40pm (Thursday 1 October 2020), emergency services were called to Mermaid Pools following reports a male swimmer did not resurface after jumping off a rock into water.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW.
First responders were told a man, believed to be aged in his late teens, had jumped off a rock into the water and had not resurfaced.
It’s understood he had attended the site with friends who raised the alarm.
Police, paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW officers are at the scene while police divers are on their way.
Mermaids Pool, which has significant Indigenous history, is extremely dangerous and not suitable for recreational swimming, according to the Wollondilly Shire Council.
Police divers are on their way to the scene.
