Here we bring to you the story of Karva Chauth Vrat:

Karva Chauth Vrat katha in hindi: A Brahmin had seven sons and was the only daughter named Veeravati. Being the only sister of seven brothers, Veeravati was dear to all the brothers and loved her more than her life. After some time, Veeravati was married to a Brahmin youth.

After marriage, Veeravati came to her maternal home and then kept a fast of Karwachauth with her sisters-in-law, but by the evening, she was distraught with hunger. All the brothers sat down to eat food and urged their sister to eat it too, but the sister told that today she has a waterless fast of Karva Chauth and she can eat only by seeing the moon and offering it to her. But the moon is not yet out, so she is distraught with hunger and thirst.

Veeravati condition is not seen by her brothers, and then a brother burns a lamp on a peepal tree and keeps it in the carpet. He looked as if the moon had come out from a distance. Then a brother came and told Veeravati that the moon has come out, you can have food after offering it to him. Sister happily climbed the stairs, looked at the moon and sat down to eat food by offering it to her.

He sneezed as soon as he put the first piece in his mouth. When the second piece was inserted, the hair came out. After this, as soon as she tried to put the third piece in the mouth, she got the news of her husband's death.

Her sister-in-law informs her of the truth as to why this happened to her. The gods are angry with Karva Chauth's fast because of the wrong break. Once Indrani's wife Indrani came to earth on Karva Chauth day and Veeravati went to her and prayed to protect her husband.

Goddess Indrani asked Veeravati to observe Karvachauth with full devotion and law. This time Veeravati kept the fast of Karvachauth with full devotion. Seeing his devotion and devotion, the Lord was pleased and he blessed her husband by bringing Veeravati Sada Suhagan alive. After this, women began to have unwavering faith in Karvachauth vow.

The origin of Karwa Chauth can be traced back to the Mahabharata, when Savitri begged the God of Death, Lord Yama, for her husband’s soul. Draupadi adhered to it, and soon Arjuna returned home safely. Another episode in the epic talks about the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi. Arjuna had gone to the Nilgiris to pray and meditate for a few days, and worried about his safety, wife Draupadi had sought her friend Krishna’s help. He advised her to observe a strict fast just like Goddess Parvati did for her husband Shiva’s safety.
