Detroit-based rapper Big Sean is all set to release his fifth album aptly titled ‘Detroit2’ which is a follow-up to 2017’s ‘I Decided’ and the sequel to his 2012 mixtape ‘Detroit’. The American rapper first shared the album cover on his official Instagram account on August 24 and since then he has already released three songs from this much-anticipated LP namely ‘Deep Reverence’ ft late Nipsey Hussle, ‘Harder Than My Demons’ and ‘Body Language’ ft Ty Dolla $ign and Jhene Aiko.

After a three year wait, Big Sean is back with his latest album Detroit 2. The rapper dropped his latest LP, a follow up to his 2012 mixtape Detroit, at midnight on Friday, September 4, and it’s chock full with new songs and guest artists. The 21 track album features a truly massive amount of artists including the late Nipsey Hussle, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Dwele, Anderson .Paak, Earlly Mac, Wale, Young Thug, Hit-Boy, Travis Scott, Key Wayne, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Kash Doll, Eminem, and his partner Jhene Aiko among others. It also feature two story interludes from Dave Chappelle and Erykah Badu, and Detroit legend Stevie Wonder. Big Sean, who recently sat down with Vulture music critic Craig Jenkins for an in depth interview, said that this album was a sort of homecoming. “When I was making Detroit 2, I felt like I was returning to my roots but with a stronger foundation,” Sean told Jenkins. “I feel like my roots got even deeper. Now, just a few hours before the release of his album (i.e. on Friday, September 4), the 32-year-old artiste has doubled the excitement with a preview of his new track called ‘Everything That’s Missing’ ft Dwele. Big Sean shared the preview on his official Instagram, Twitter and YouTube account with the help of a short video. The 1-minute-41-second video starts with giving the fans an overview of the city with the camera then cuts to the different parts of the surroundings showing a glimpse of the culture and lifestyle. The short video also features Big Sean rapping to soulful lyrics to a lofi hip-hop beat.

Moments after the rapper shared the preview of his new song, fans started showering praises on Twitter. Expressing his excitement for the new album, a user tweeted, “I really do love these pre'views. Nobody is really doing this now a days. Can’t wait for the album tonight.”

Another fan, who is waiting eagerly for the new album to hit the Internet stated, “Damn loveeee Red heart it bro @BigSean Can’t wait to support “Detroit 2” just hours awayFolded hands @zenojones  Marcel.”

Predicting the future of Sean’s new album, one posted, “this album boutta be legendary”

Interestingly, ‘Detroit2’ was first supposed to hit the Internet in March 2020 but due to the unfortunate global pandemic, Big Sean decided to push the album while adding more songs to the list.
